Time to play catch up.

I'll be posting updates on what's been happening pre/post wedding and other occurences in my life. I've been busy, but I haven't been TOO BUSY to blog...I just don't know what happened. Oh yeah, that damn FarmTown on facebook. I should probably cancel it so I can get back to reality for more than 2 hours in the day. I thought insomnia would leave me for good...well until Christmas Eve...but nope-it's been hanging high above my head all week long!

Let's see. We had a FANTASTIC rehearsal dinner. I was really skeptical about having it in my back yard. But, the California family didn't complain TOO much about the heat, and everything turned out great. We had TONS of space so that worked, noone was crammed into one area. We were outside, so we could be as loud as we wanted. My uncles got a kick, and felt really special, because they got to cook the food. It was our every weekend meal-BBQ. But for some reason, everyone LOVED it! lol I actually got to sit down for about 15 minutes and eat. I lost Edgar pretty much most of the night, but he was visiting with family so it was okay. They loved our gifts, and wish I would have handed my camera to someone to take pics. Saying goodbye to Edgar that night was probably the hardest thing I had to do all weekend long. I don't know why it was just so hard, but it was. I got teary eyed when he walked out the door. Not even telling myself that we would be committing our lives to one another in just a matter of hours changed how I felt at that moment....

Here are some pics of the festivities.
Edgar's middle brother, Erick. This was taken the Thursday before the wedding.

A very crooked picture of probably about 1/5 of the people at our rehearsal dinner. By the looks of it, this is a pic of nothing but DH's family members from Cali. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of all the cars in our backyard. WHEW! lol
Our last picture as a single couple! Before we said our goodbyes.

I finally cracked....

I was wondering when it was going to hit me. It hasn't hit me this whole week. Not even seeing my sister cry, or picking out a song to dance with my brother too(because my dad passed away in '03), or seeing my bro's myspace status "My little sister is getting married this weekend!" and he was excited, and not even because family is coming TOMORROW!!!!
I cracked because I was thinking about my Mom and how happy she was when she saw me try on my dress for her (which I am soooo glad I did, because she hadn't seen me in it in a while!). I was sad because my Sister was supposed to be my other MOH, and I have her bouquet, because I made them sometime last year. I turned it into my toss bouquet, so someone is going to get some really special flowers. I cried because my Dad was supposed to walk me down the aisle and give me away. There's just soo many mixed feelings because this is supposed to be my special day, everything is supposed to be perfect but it won't be. Deep down, I will think about how they aren't here with me to celebrate it all, and I will feel sad. I don't know how I'm really going to enjoy my day 100% thinking about it all. I guess I'll just have to remember how excited they were for me, and try not to be sad. It was soo sweet, I just went up to Edgar and he knew something was wrong with me. He held me while I cried and told me that they would all be with me spiritually, but it's still not the same ya know? Egh-oh well. I'm sure it will continue to come up for the rest of my life.
On a happier note, family is coming TOMORROW(well now it's after 12...so it's today)!!! I can't believe it. Actually, I can. And I'm 100% excited and ready for them to be here. I'm feeling more and more anxious because I'm ready for everyone to be all at the same place. I've been doing a lot lately to try and keep busy. There's only so much you can do when you have finished everything wedding related that you can possibly finish before hand. But, we have been cleaning the yard. Mowing, weed eating, and watering the grass everynight. Getting all the materials, food, tables, and chairs for the outside rehearsal dinner we are hosting at my house Friday night. Which is technically tomorrow night!! Holy Moly!! Today we went and had the final meeting with the dj, talked dances, songs, timelines and must plays. We also went and picked up Edgar and his brother Erick's tuxedos from men's wearhouse. They looked so handsome! I can't wait to see them on Saturday all cleaned up.
When I wake up (I'm setting my alarm for 9 AUGH!) I am going to get my e-ring cleaned, getting Erick a gift, getting some bowls for salsa and chips, Rent 50 chairs for Friday, and then around 3 or so I'm getting my toes and nails done. We will be leaving at around 6:30 to go and pick up family from the airport. Tomorrow....tonight.....will be a LONG night I just know it. We haven't seen this part of the family in over a year. And, we only saw them for 1 day when we did see them when we visited California for a wedding last May. It's gonna be fun. Hopefully I recap again, if not this might be my last post as a single woman!!!! Let the good times roll.....

A Few Checks & Update

Okay, Well first I love all those hairstyles above! The one in the board of hairstyles is really just supposed to be the Jordan Sparks one...but I didn't cut it out. Anyway, you get the idea. The only thing is...my hair needs to grow another 5 or so inches. I think it will, my hair grows pretty fast.
I talked to the lady that is going to do my hair for my wedding and she told me she would do mine and all my girls hair as her wedding gift! Are you serious!?!?!? There really are good people in this world. I'm really thankful because I wanted to give that to my girls as a gift but Edgar and I have been so strapped for money I didn't think I was going to be able too. I sent them all texts and so far 1 has responded. I asked them to e-mail the pic so I can show her and we can make a timeline of what time each girl will get their hair done and how long she thinks it will take.
I'm getting really excited, and we are about to hit the 6 MONTH MARK!!!! I can't believe it, it realy feels like just last week we were excited about the year mark. When 2009 came, I just couldn't help but think "I'm getting married THIS year..." No more..."no, not this July, next July" or "I know it's kind of far away, but It's July of '09" It's amazing. I'm just kind of like uhhh okay Laura it's time to stop procrastinating and get your ass in gear!
For January I really need to focus on finding a Photographer. Especially one that won't ask for BOTH my arms! lol I realize you get what you pay for....but really. And I shouldn't be really complaining because Edgar's family is paying for ALOT! I really should be thankful the only thing Edgar and I are going to be paying for is the hall $2400-Which includes the tables/chairs/security/chair covers/chair ties/table clothes/arch/full use of kitchen/clean up/8AM-Midnight. The beer/coke(includes all types like dr.pepper, sprite etc.)/water. I'm thinking this is going to be anywhere between $500-$800. The photographer if and when I find one and then also a videographer depending on how much money we have and if we can afford one. So all in all we're probably paying for like $4,000 out of our $10,000-$12,000 wedding. I still can't believe it's so high! I always thought I could get away with having a wedding for like $5,000.....but man this wedding industry told us otherwise!
I also need to decide on our cake maker...which I think I have. I e-mailed her and hopefully her prices didn't jump much higher than what we talked about when we met in like August. She told me her prices were going to jump up in 2009, but hopefully not that much.
I had the rehearsal dinner sight on my list of to do's this month but we already decided. We decided on a place called Duke's BBQ in a town about 30 miles away. The website is www.dukesbbq.com and we will be getting the all you can eat buffet for $15/person. This includes all the food/drink/and 1 hr service from the staff. I'm not sure how many people we are inviting, but I think we are going to probably open it up to anyone that wants to go but only pay for those in the wedding. I'm thinking of making a ticket or something that they can present....which is another thing Edgar and I will be paying for.
