Just in case....

You don't know how many more days we have until the wedding.....it's SIX! 6 Whole days...less than a week. lol Yea, I woke up this morning with a not so settled tummy! lol I wonder if it's my nerves starting to kick in? Anyway, let's recap.
Friday, Edgar and I had our bachelor/ette party together because when my Mom passed away the planning got put on hold and then we ran out of time, so we just opted to have it together in my backyard. About 40 or so people came, and it was such a fun time. Even though the guys were there, the girls still had plenty of fun. We played Ring Toss with an inflatable male part! Then we also played "Pin the junk on the hunk". That one was just hilarious. One of my bridesmaids had taken pics, and I'm waiting for them to come through my e-mail. I didn't give her the "okay to post on facebook or myspace" but who knows what kind of pics they were. ;) So once I filter through, hopefully I will post some up.
Saturday we woke up, most importantly, NO HANGOVER!!! We went outside and cleaned out the yard. We have this idea of recycling the cans of both that party and the wedding, see how much money we can come up with! We met up with Edgar's Mom and Dad to get cases and cases of beer for the wedding. We hit up the 4th of July specials and the limit was only 2 per person, so we all went in about 3 times, including my sister and her husband! That was an experience. On Wednesday and Thursday of last week, while I was doing my own weekly run of wedding necessities, I ran into Randall's and bought a total of 63 12 packs of sodas, 58 of which were for the wedding. I mean seriously, who could beat the $1.99/12 pack special??? Here's a pic for your enjoyment.

Yesterday after our shopping trip, we came home to play in a water slide thingy that blows up with air. It was the funnest thing ever. Who doesn't need some relaxing, go back and act like a kid, fun time-before the wedding??? Anyway, we played in there with Edgars 2 bros, ,my 2 nieces and my nephew and his girlfriend. Those were some awesome memories! lol Then we got all cleaned up and went to Taylor to watch the fireworks. That was fun too, until my niece brought the dogs not thinking of how they would react to the fireworks, and my dog(inherited from my Mom!) literally freaked out. I will post a whole blog on how I got "Bubba", sometime soon. But here are some pics to hold you over.

Today, I'm working on my big centerpieces for the tables. It's soo surreal because I know that has been last on my to-do list since I started wedding planning. And I kept saying I wouldn't do it until the last week until the wedding. But guess what!?!??! It's here! We see family in 4 days and the wedding is just right around the corner.

playing catch-up with 32 days left....

Okay. So to explain my absence. My Mom is very sick. Actually, sick isn't the right word. She's stable but the dr's say there's nothing more they can do and they aren't giving her much longer to live. She will be coming home soon and we have already began the massive clean up around the house to get ready. I've come to terms that these are going to be some very hard days, but I would give anything to be able to have my Mom still be in my life. I'm going to enjoy every minute with her, even if it is going to be hard. I'm just excited to have her back home after over a month.
I had my shower this passed weekend, on Sunday, and it was great. We also had my Nephew's graduation party on Friday and that was fun too. I can't believe he's out. Anyway, my Grandma gave me lingerie, and I was embarassed!!! She had hid it in a towel, so when I pulled it out it fell out.
I'm.literally.exhausted! I can't even think anymore and I just want to fall down and pass out! I did my first day of 'the shred' and even though it's level 1, don't let it fool you. I didn't stop, or give up, but it was hard. I've heard a lot of girls say they have seen drastic results, so we'll see how it goes for me.
I got my dress fixed. My Sister in law's mom did it for me. My wallet thanked her! I still need to find shoes, uhm figure how I want my hair. There are only a few things I need to complete before my wedding comes. The most exciting is that we're going to get our marriage license on Thursday. I'm anxious!!! I'm also doing summer school, and I get out at 1 now.
Here are some pictures because I know you're just super anxious....

I don't know why this is sideways. My Kitchenaid mixer from my Mom!
My cake from my Godmother.Of course Edgar helped set-up before guys day out at the movies. <3
Katie, Lorie, My sister Michelle, My BFF Cassidy. Some 4/7 of my bridesmaids.

80

I know I know, I suck at the blogging countdown! But now I have 80 days!!!!!!! That's 2 months 2 weeks and 5 days. 2 months and 2 weeks are sounding really close to 2 months and then 1 month and 3 weeks. AHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having one of those moments......
Well, in other news. Edgar and I have been enjoying his evenings off and the weekends. This passed weekend we actually hung out with Friends, went to dinner with them, Went to the mall, wedding shopping, went out to my Bro's and spent the day there, went to a UT baseball game, and now have plans for a movie (fighting!) and a round rock express game. These are things we could NEVER do because of his work schedule, and it ROCKS! :) We've actually been writing down what we have left to pay for the wedding and I think we're in a good spot right about now.
Edgar is playing in a softball tournament this weekend and I'm kind of excited for it. Hopefully they win and they don't get eliminated after their 2nd game. He also has a softball game tonight-and they're playing for first place! We'll see how this turns out.
Today is Earth Day and we have been talking about it in my class. We watched an Earth Day video, about recycling, unplugging electronics when we're not using them, turning off lights, car pooling....you know stuff like that. Then today during Science we might go outside and talk a walk around and do a quick campus clean up. I hope they stay under control long enough to do something like that!
The school year is quickly coming to and end, and I'm REALLY excited. I can't wait for May 25th to come because it's our next and last school year holiday. Then I really can't wait for June 3rd to come because it's the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!! Really, can it come FASTER!?!??!?!
My nephew's Graduation party is going to be June 6th and then the weekend after that, they are all going down to South Padre. Maybe we will go since Edgar is off on the weekends now. I'm excited!
Oh yeah, my 2 wedding showers are May 30th-the one being thrown by my sister (maid of honor) and I *think* my work shower is going to be the first week of May. I'm excited and I can't wait!!!!

91 & 90

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

Well today was pretty much a regular Easter for us. We meet up at the Park, stuff our faces with BBQ and play a nice family friendly game of kickball which we usually just take "intermission" and NEVER start the game back up! :) It's fun and tradition.
Edgar had to work today from 9-5 so he missed all of my family festivities but made it in time for his families after he got off work. We just met up at his parents house and ate dinner. Well he ate-I was too stuffed to eat anymore. I did have a nice orange and a bowl of cookies-n-cream ice cream! Last night Edgar made his confirmation and we sat in Church for 3 1/2 hours!!!! There were about 20 kids/adults making their sacraments for the Catholic Church(hence the 3 1/2 hour long mass!!!) but to get through it didn't seem like that long. Afterwards we went to eat at IHOP and we got home at like 1 or so. The mass started at 8, but we got there at 7:30 p.m. because it gets pretty full for the Easter Vigil. It was really pretty because mass starts with a candle lit entrance and every light was off except our candles. Kinda makes me want a candle lit wedding ceremony, but thats impossible. I would have pics to show BUT my camera decided not to work tonight so I don't have any pics of last nights events. Egh-oh well.
During dinner at Edgar's parents we were talking about the language of the our wedding mass. The priest won't do a bilingual ceremony so we need to choose spanish or english. My immediate family know NO spanish! Edgar's Mom and Dad speak spanish, and his Dad knows more english than his Mom. My whole family speaks english as their first language and most of Edgar's family speak spanish. We could have the mass in Spanish and my family won't know ANYTHING or we could have the mass in English and his family will know a little. The problem with a Spanish mass-I won't get the full effect. I know enough spanish to communicate with Edgar's family-but I don't speak spanish religiously! We are in a BIG rut here because Edgar won't speak up to his parents and say "Laura doesn't speak spanish so we're having it in english...." so I have a feeling this is going to not be fun!
The good thing about it is that Edgar switches to trucks tomorrow. He has to be in to work by 4:45 a.m. and he will get off no later than 4!!! This means now he only works Monday-Friday! I'm so excited to spend the weekends together. It's such an awesome feeling-he hasn't been off of work on the weekends without requesting to be for TWO YEARS!!!! Now that he switched departments he needs to put in time off for the wedding tomorrow when he goes in. I can't wait!
Oh yea.....in 3 months I will officially be a married woman!!!!!

97

Okay, so today was a "I'm going to stay in my P.J's until 3:30 day!" :) When I finally decided to get dressed and go to Austin, I had to go drop off a prescription for my Mom at Walgreens and then I went to a flower shop. I had been debating whether or not to use real flowers for my reception for a while now. And after meeting with the lady a couple of weeks ago at the reception hall I decided my "vision" didn't really seem wedding-y (yes that's MY word!) enough for me. So I got a great recommendation from a wholesale flower shop right next to my uncles framing shop and I decided to hop on in today. I had been there before and knew the prices were great, but I didn't think I could make the centerpieces. I didn't think I was A. going to have enough time and B. trust someone else to make them for me. But, they came out really simple and easy so ANYONE could make them! I figured it all up and I will be spending $220 on 30 centerpieces, which isn't all that bad. Here are some pics.

What the flowers looked like before.

The smaller of the centerpieces for the tables. There will be 2 on each table.

These are the 2 centerpieces I will be using. 1 big one and 2 smaller ones(I realize I said it before...) The tall centerpiece is fake. It's hard to tell, even in "real-life".

Update...

Okay, well I never posted a pic of my Valentines Day present.

<~~~~~~~~~~Here it is! It was such a surprise, I even tripped when he pulled them out of his car! lol This makes my 2nd ever dozen roses from him in 5 1/2 years. They're so beautiful and they are still alive! :)

We have officially booked ALL of our vendors. Now it's just paying for everything and making sure I have all my DIY projects done. Work is making me pretty busy and I'm working every Saturday minus Spring Break until April 4th. Edgar makes his confirmation the Saturday night before Easter at the midnight mass. He's also getting his schedule switched soon, which allows him to be off on the weekends! and he will be off at around the same time as me. Although, if I keep up staying after for tutoring then he will be getting off BEFORE me even! I'm excited, because then we can do soo much more stuff. We promised each other the first weekend he's off we are going to the beach. He hasn't been off in 2 years (February 28th) and so it's going to be our little celebration! We also found out this week some of his family will be coming to Texas for a while week when they come for the wedding! I'm super excited about that because we weren't expecting them to just hang out and we thought it was going to be rush rush rush. Now, we're deciding where we want to take them and what all we want to do. There's so much to do and so little time.

Today I had a little mini wedding day. After work I waited at home for my SIL to come over so we could go shopping for some things I needed. We went to Hobby Lobby to return some wrist straps that I had bout for wrist corsages. I decided we weren't going to do those and make pin on corsages for the women. MUCH Easier, and less time consuming. We went over to Office Max to buy some full paper labels so I could work on my personalized waterbottles. Here is what they look like. After Office Max we went to Wal-Mart and picked up some little square vases for a little idea I had to make my centerpieces better. I really needed 28 but they only had 9, I figured I would keep going back until I got the rest. I think my SIL is going to look to the Wal-Mart closer to her and see if she can find more. I still have a BIG list of To-Do's. Slowly but surely I will get everything done. My plan is to have everything done by June 11th. Will it be reasonable....who knows?!?!? I guess time will tell. Here are some more pics of the water bottles.

Valentines Day

Wahoo! It's Valentine's day & Edgar's 23rd B-day!!! What better way to celebrate than to both be WORKING! :) Yea, it sucks but what can we do? I have yet to get him anything, because we said we would be low-key this year because of the wedding. Valentine's Day isn't really big in our relationship anyway, because of his B-day, so no V-day present and yes on the B-day present. I think he's leaning towards wanting another hat. I realized he is addicted to hats like I am purses/shoes/clothes/wedding stuff! HAHA
With the 5 month mark 3 days ago, my life has been hit with OMG I can't believe all this I still have to do. Also, there's so many new things popping into my life all at once. I never would have imagined I would be this busy and still need to do soooooooo many wedding things. I once thought I was ahead in the game, then time just started flying by and now I feel like I'm behind! I'm sure it's just me that thinks this-because I am pretty sure I'm not behind.....but I always like to be 2 steps ahead of everything. I am behind in a sense that I haven't picked my DJ or Photographer. BUT, I know who I want for my photographer and if she's still available when I'm ready to book her, then she was meant to shoot my wedding! lol I'm taking a HUGE risk though.
My Sister-In-Law was on her way to work on Wednesday and she got rear ended. She refused medical attention but then when she got to work her back and neck started to hurt so she went in to get checked out. They told her she was fine but SURPRISE YOUR PREGNANT! lol So, that was a major schock. They got married in Nov. '07 and have been trying since, so we knew it could happen.....but it wasn't expected.
After work this is what I hope to accomplish.
  • Go Meet Edgar for our Valentines/Birthday Lunch.
  • Pay some bills
  • Go to shoe carnival for their $5 shoes!
  • Get Edgar a b-day cake for when he gets home.
  • Look at fabric for the table runners.
  • Get my ribbon for my invitations.

Hopefully I accomplish everything, but right now I have to go and deliver snacks!

Vendor Check!

Okay, well I'm a little late on this entry because I've actually been busy for once!
Wednesday we went and had our tasting with a potential caterer. It went awesome! We found this lady at a flea market here, a place called the Crockett Center. Originally I found her because I was looking for a photographer and she had a photographer/videographer package. Then when we started talking to her she said her husband did catering. Anyway-we went and he had us a dish waiting. We were surprised because we thought we were just going to meet them and talk prices....and try to work out a deal. :) So we looked at their menu-like 11 different types of dishes they do. We picked (and luckily it was what he had made us!) a chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella cheese and ham covered in alfredo sauce, vegetables, fettuchini(SP?) alfredo, a roll, salad, and it came with a fruit bar. The fruit bar comes with, grapes, pinepples, cantoloupe, strawberries, kiwis, and a chocolate fountain. Also, the provide fruit punch (in a fountain also) with the plates for the fruit bar and the cups. They also are providing us utensils for dinner and plates for the food. We opted to rent out 4 servers to pass out food and pick up the eaten plates. Anyway, all of that food before for only $8.50 PER PERSON!!!!! It's amazing. All of my Austin knotties/bloggers-----if you're interested I will give you the contact info. The food was DELICIOUS. I will post a pic later, I'm at work and the picture is on my home computer.
Tonight no big plans. Just working out and trying to find Edgar's Keys!!!! The only key we have to the honda is on there, so the honda is not driveable right now! I know-that's what we get for not having an extra key but it's my mom's old car and my brother had/has the extra set and he can't find them right now. Which means he will NEVER find them. Also, the key to the Charger is on there. Now that one I'm kind of upset about because the dealership told us it would be like over $200 to replace that key! Sooo....unless I want to fork out over $200 for a new key to the Charger, I'm going to rip my room apart.
Tomorrow is Saturday School tutoring. So, work from 7:45-around 12:30. Afterwards I'm going home to work out and then my SIL is supposed to come over. I haven't decided what I wanted to work on for the wedding....but hopefully I decide by tonight so I can make sure I have everything we need.
I'm sleepy...I need 2:45 to come fast!!!!!

Weekend Update and Some Checks!

Rather than spreading this out in 2 posts I will make this one.long.post! :) Enjoy!

Okay so according to my countdown we have 25 weeks and 4 days until the wedding! In other countdowns that equals to 173 days or 5 months 3 weeks and 1 day. I am officially under 1/2 of the year. ::PASS THE PAPER BAG!:: I'm beginning to hyperventilate.

I have 2 main things to book, and it's the DJ/Band (I wish Edgar's Dad will just hurry up and decide) and the Photographer. Okay here's the dilemma on that one. I met with Charlotte with number9 photography and everything was fine and dandy except Edgar and I really didn't have the money for the deposit. I was waiting until the 15th until I got paid to pay for her and to fill out the contract. Until, I got the e-mail saying something along the lines of her already booking that day with another bride but if I wanted someone else from her group of photographers it would be the same amount and she would do the editing, but she wouldn't be taking the pictures. We told Edgar's parents and they encouraged us to look around. Okay. We went and met with a lady on Saturday but then Edgar's Dad said please call me Sunday and make a time to meet with E's Dad, Edgar, and I all to talk about prices and see her work. It's $1250 for both the videography and photography. While waiting for her to call I receive an e-mail from Charlotte telling me that the bride that booked with her on the 11th didn't secure her venue so she had to move her photography date back to the 18th. PERFECT! BUT, we had already talked to the other lady and was waiting for a meeting. She never called on Sunday and we tried to call her today to see if we could meet but she never answered....back to square 1. We're basically screwed! :) SOOOO....if we haven't heard from this lady by the 30th I will be contacting Charlotte and book the date with her.

I also finished printing the rsvp cards and reception cards off on my computer. Edgar and I took them to Kinko's so they could cut them. Well worth the $17 I spent on cutting them. I made my sponsor cards/letters also and I bought a stamp at Hobby Lobby that says "The joining of two hands makes One Heart!" that I stamped the back of the envelope. Soo cute! I made my DIY pomanders I am going to use for the flower girls (yes I nixed the baskets!) and also for the Church Pews. I'm in love with them! I added the lime green roses because I felt they needed a pop of color. They turned out good to me.

Today I spent the day with Edgar. It was nice and much deserved! He's off on Mondays and because of the lovely MLKjr....I was off today too. We slept in. Woke up and went to lunch (!) We went and ran errands. We got the rest of our cake plates from Party City so I'm finished with that. We bought him some work shoes. Thank God he can throw the others away! :) We got some stuff from Hobby Lobby and we came home. We also went to scope out Apartments. We found the ones we want to move into. We will go back probably around April and see what the availability is. ::crosses fingers they have something good:: It's in a perfect location and Edgar's ready to move in now. I let him know if we pay everything we need to for the wedding we can move in as soon as that's all done. Hopefully that will put him in high gear. Tomorrow is the first of four marriage classes. We will be there from 7-9 and luckily tomorrow I get to come home straight after work....YAY for no after school tutoring!
